Our Practice History

The Animal House Veterinary Surgery was established by Hugh and Theresa Duffin in 2005. Originally it was a “traditional mixed” practice serving not only the pet owners of Rugby and Warwick, but also the farm and equine communities. Over recent years, the Duffins decided to cease the farm animal and equine work and concentrate on providing their services for small animals only.

In 2019 the practice became part of the IVC Evidensia group of veterinary practices. IVC is the largest owner of veterinary practice in the UK currently supporting over 1000 practices.

In 2022 Hugh and Theresa stepped down from permanent employment with The Animal House.

The current team are led by Clinical Director, Dr Victoria West MA VetMB BSAVA PGCertSAM MRCVS and Practice Manager, Jenni Humphreys.

OUR TEAM: Our wonderful team of veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, and support staff aim to provide an approachable, friendly and professional veterinary service to all our clients and their pets. Our ethos is to treat every animal presented to us as though they were our own – this includes strays and wildlife. Our vets do at least 35 hours of extra training each year and between them they currently have specialisms in medicine, emergency/critical care, laparoscopy, and exotics.
CONTINUITY OF CARE: We have many long-standing members in our team and pride ourselves on having an honest and happy workplace. All our staff are permanent, and we will only employ locums in exceptional circumstances. We do our best to ensure that clients, if they wish, are able to see the same vets or nurses at each visit to ensure that there is continuity of care.
TREATMENT OPTIONS: Our vets will endeavour to discuss all possible treatment options with you, explaining the pros and cons of each (including cost), enabling you to make the most appropriate decision about your pet's care.
COST: We always try to ensure our prices are fair and appropriate. We will always discuss costs with you and provide estimates where possible. Our pet health club spreads the cost of routine preventative healthcare throughout the year, as well as giving discounts on some of our other products.
